Sharon Da Silva suffers from sleepwalking. Despite efforts from her adoptive parents Rose and Christopher, Sharon’s bouts are getting worse. Desperate to find a cure, Rose takes Sharon to the place she talks about in her dreams: Silent Hill. After an accident in the dark, Rose wakes up to find Sharon missing from the vehicle. She wanders into the town of Silent Hill to find it blanketed in mist with ash falling from the sky like snow.

When Christopher discovers where Rose has taken Sharon, he follows her to Silent Hill where he finds her empty vehicle being investigated by Officer Thomas Gucci. Together they also drive into the town to find it abandoned however there is no ash falling from the sky; they are met only with empty streets on a bright sunny day.

This is the beginning of the mystery surrounding the mining town that was abandoned after a coal fire broke out underground thirty years prior. As Rose struggles to survive through the horrific events occurring around her she continues to search for her daughter and uncovers the truth about Silent Hill’s fate.
