House At the End of the Street Movie Review!

Jennifer Lawrence and Elisabeth Shue star in this thriller about a mother and daughter who move to a new town trying to make a fresh start.  The home they rent is next door to a house where four years prior a young girl murdered her parents.  One night by chance, Elissa, played by Jennifer Lawrence, meets Ryan, the son of the dual murder victims.  Much to her mother’s dismay, Elissa befriends Ryan and begins to find out more of what truly happened four years ago with his sister Carrie Anne.  What she discovers is more terrifying than she ever imagined.

The movie is a bit slow paced as the mystery is unraveled yet Max Theiriot delivers a decent performance as Ryan  Where the movie falls a bit flat is through character development but the story progresses enough that this isn’t a hindrance.  The reveal is a bit predictable though and sadly the ending had enough clichés to suck the suspense right out the film.

Even though this movie was not a nail biter in the least, I was still left liking this film after it was finished.  I doubt that I will revisit the film a second time but I definitely do not regret spending the time watching this.  I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good afternoon thriller.
