Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren try to help
a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse. Forced to confront a
powerful entity, the Warrens
find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.
This is the plot for the 2013 movie directed by James Wan
titled The Conjuring. Written by
siblings Chad
and Carey Hayes, The Conjuring is based on real life paranormal investigators
Ed and Lorraine Warren who assisted the Perron family when they began
experiencing disturbing events at their home.
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson do a remarkable job in the role of the Warrens. Lili Taylor also stars in the movie and is,
quite simply, amazing in her role of Carolyn Perron.
Set in 1971, the film represents itself perfectly to that
era in atmosphere and also in the vein of horror movies from that time. This is not a gore fest; nor is the movie
filled with many of the other tricks from today’s films littered with bits of
nudity, CGI effects or awkward random comedic outbursts. The Conjuring is instead a classic haunting
with tension built by subtle camera moves, an amazing soundtrack and solid
story telling.
If you have not yet had an opportunity to see this movie, I
highly recommend you add it to your viewing list.
