Charley Brewster is your typical teenage boy. All he wants to do is make it with his
girlfriend and maybe pass his math class.
But all of this changes when Charley suspects his new neighbor is a
vampire. When Charley voices his
suspicions to those around him he is pegged as being crazy. It is then that he tries to take matters into
his own hands while making himself a target in the process.
Written and directed by Tom Holland, Fright Night blends the perfect combination of comedy and horror to
add a little levity to anyone’s collection.
William Ragsdale stars as Charley Brewster with Amanda Bearse starring
as his girlfriend Amy. Chris Sarandon
stars as the suave vampire next door while Roddy McDowell gives an excellent
performance as Peter Vincent, television host of Fright Night and Professional
Vampire Slayer. But perhaps the one
performance that just stuck with me over the years was that of Stephen Geoffreys
as Evil Ed. There is just something
about his laugh that I cannot shake.
The original is definitely a fan favorite and not only launched
a sequel, novelization, comic book, and video game in its hay day but it also spawned
a remake in 2011 and a sequel to the remake in 2013.
