Best selling horror novelist Roger Cobb is not having a good
year. His wife has left him, his son has
mysteriously disappeared, his publisher is pushing for a new book by the end of
the month and, to top it all off, his Aunt has just died. In search of solitude and answers to his son’s
disappearance, Roger decides to move into his Aunt’s home and write his new
novel about his time in Vietnam. But solitude is the last thing Roger gets
when the house itself wants him out of the way.
House was written
by Fred Dekker and adapted for the screen by Ethan Wiley. Directed by Steve Miner, it stars William
Katt as Roger Cobb with George Wendt as his nosy neighbor. Richard Moll and Kay Lenz co-star in this
comedy horror that spawned three sequels.
As we count down to Halloween, it’s always good to get a few
laughs in on the way and I’d have to say the ‘80’s generated more than a few
good ones to revisit. If by any chance
you haven’t seen this movie, it is worth the watch as Roger battles the house
and tackles his own inner demons along the way.
