The residents to a quiet suburban community are thrust into
the middle of chaos and terror when a military operation quarantines their town
and residents are forced to stay within their homes on Christmas Eve. Separated from her daughter, Beth watches
horrified from her home as her neighbors are gunned down in the streets by the
military presence. But something else is
outside stalking victims and the only clue she has is the news broadcast of a
shipping container washed up on the nearby shore before all communication is
blacked out. Determined to locate her
daughter at any cost, Beth embarks on her own mission and nothing will stand in
her way.
Written and directed by Lawrence Gough, this British horror
film is an instant win in this viewer’s book and gives nods to the classics in
development of characters and the overall suspense as you journey through the
movie trying to solve the mystery. What
was in the container that washed ashore and who do you ultimately trust?
Neve McIntosh gives an outstanding performance as Beth, the
frantic mother, and won two awards for her role. Though any movie can be picked apart at the
seams, this horror aficionado admires how it all came together on a low budget
and truly delivered in the suspense department.
A great addition to the 31 Days of Horror Countdown!
