It’s 1969 at the prom and three football players decide to
play a little prank on their dates. This
prank goes south for one of the jocks resulting in the untimely death of Mary
Banner. Flash forward to today where
three teenage girls are having a sleep over on prom night. As they sit around and tell ghost stories the
conversation turns to the telling of urban legends. One of the girls chants ‘bloody Mary’ three
times and they unwittingly unleash an evil spirit.
If the movie had stuck with being solely a paranormal ghost
revenge story then maybe it could have been salvaged. Instead, being a non-sequel sequel in the Urban Legends series, the movie splits focus
and the death scenes are mock up of urban legends with no explanation why. Huh? Considering
the fact that the first two movies centered on the urban legends, the death
scenes as reenactments made sense. In
this film…not so much.
I can’t say that I hated the film but I also cannot say that
I liked it either. If you really want to
watch a movie as a testament of what can go wrong with too many plot
variations, then this is the perfect film for you.
To compare with the other two movies in the franchise, this
is by far the worst in the series and worth skipping.
