Amy Mayfield needs a movie idea for her thesis and what
better genre to break out of her documentary father’s shadow than that of a
horror film. The plot: urban legends. As Amy begins to film her movie, the cast and
crew are picked off one by one by a faceless killer. As Amy begins to get closer to the truth she
becomes a target herself as the killer stalks her on campus. Everyone is a suspect and the motives just
keep changing as one twist after another present themselves.
As slasher films go this isn’t the worst in the genre. The fact that the movie is a non-sequel
sequel saves it from being a total loss.
The lines between fact and fiction are blurred at the ending and the
viewer is left with multiple scenarios to play out in your own imagination once
the movie ends.
Jennifer Morrison stars as Amy Mayfield with co-stars
Matthew Davis, Eva Mendes, and Jessica Cauffiel to name a few. Loretta Devine reprises her role as Reese
Wilson, campus security extraordinaire.
All in all this isn’t a total waste of time and is a fun romp in and of
itself. In my opinion, the movies saving
grace is when the credits role and we see a cameo of Rebecca Gayheart with
music and style in the vein of the master filmmaker Albert Hitchcock. When there is nothing better on tv to be
found, this movie will not be a waste of time to revisit.
