One year after the death of his wife, Terrance Shade takes
his family on a winter retreat to a remote cabin loved by his wife when she was
a child. Still coping with the loss of
her death, the trio try to make the best of it yet things do not go exactly as
they planned when odd occurrences keep them guessing as to whether someone or
something inhabits the cabin with them.
As with most horror/thriller films that I watch I still
shake my head as I try to understand the countless poor reviews on an otherwise
good movie. The storyline is solid, the
filming, and the performances by all of those involved are decent. The clues given throughout the movie are easy
enough to follow and put together so the ending shouldn’t be that surprising
nor was it a letdown. Eric McCormack
stars as Terrance Shade and does a respectable performance as a father trying
to hold it together and save his kids.
Connor Dwelly and Ryan Grantham also give decent performances as the
Shade children, Jake and Cynthia. Donnelly
Rhodes and Jody Thompson have supporting roles.
Overall I found this movie entertaining and that ultimately
is the point for any movie (at least in this viewer’s opinion). I definitely recommend it and if you’re
watching during the summer months, it may make you wish for at least a little
bit of snow to cool things off…Maybe!
