Coming Soon: The Evil Within Video Game

Fans of the survival horror genre have been highly anticipating the release of a new game by creator Shinji Mikami titled The Evil Within.  Best known for his creation of the Resident Evil series, Mikami created The Evil Within with the intention of returning to the true survival aspect of the genre.  With his disappointment of recent games in the same genre that are focused more on action, he has created a game that is focused primarily on an atmosphere that heightens anxiety and forces the player to confront and overcome their fears.

Though I haven’t been given a trial version of the game to play there is a trailer online that has recently been released that shows a portion of the game play and I have to say it looks amazing…and well above my skill level I think!  The Evil Within is scheduled to be released this October and I think I may have to try my hand at it after all…

Here’s the plot:

While investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter a mysterious and powerful force. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead. 

Facing unimaginable terror, and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what’s behind this evil force.
