"The good. The evil. The beginning."
Both the big screen and the small screen are seeing quite a
few super heroes making their presence known.
It has almost become the newest battle between networks as DC and Marvel
all try to keep the spotlight trained on them.
For a huge fan of both, this makes me one happy camper (if done right)! What doesn’t make me happy is a rehashing of
the same plot with a new writer and/or director. This argument holds true for any remake...But
origin stories are a whole new ball of wax. And this is why I thoroughly enjoyed watching Gotham’s premiere and will continue to watch throughout the season.
Monday night was the season premiere of Fox’s newest show, Gotham.
If you haven’t watched this yet, you really should give it a try – I don’t
think you will be disappointed.
Batman, the Joker, and Catwoman have been done to death in
the cinema…but what about some of the other villains? Sure, we know about them, have witnessed the
failed attempts in the past where too many villains are in one movie to the
point of it being down right sad…But we really haven’t seen much of Gordon’s
early years, nor witnessed the early years of all the villains. And this is where Gotham takes us: Gordon as a rookie cop and his first high profile
case is the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
Honestly, there is a lot going on in the first episode and is
worthy of watching a few times just to see the supporting characters in their
natural habitats. But the casting is
phenomenal and even the nay-sayers have to agree on this one. As with all of my reviews, I don’t like to
talk too much on plot points and would rather steer my readers into making
their own assumptions whenever possible.
This is a definite Must Watch and I can almost forgive Fox for canceling
last year’s buddy cop/sci-fi show, Almost
Human.
