Danielle Velayo, a psychology student, is slowly trying to
put the pieces of her life together after suffering from delusions. She sublets an old house and unknowingly
awakens a spirit that has been trapped there for 100 years. In her attempts to prove to her sister, Anna,
that she is not delusional, she begins to delve into the history of the home
all while the evil spirit begins to progressively possess her.
The movie had merits despite the common theme. The music was a bit distracting in the
beginning but either it grew on me or it improved. Though I have seen worse acting over the
years, Alanna Chisholm, who played Danielle, did a fairly decent job. Personally I would have liked to have seen
her in the role of Anna and Lauren Roy (who played Anna) in the lead. This has nothing to do with their acting capabilities;
it’s just a weird gut feeling of mine that I think they both would have done
better in reverse.
Overall, I was entertained even though the ending pretty
much fell flat. The twist in the last 5
minutes was typical and unnecessary but I think the treatment of the Professor’s
character was definitely over the top and unfair to the rest of the movie.
This concludes yesterday’s review for my 31 Days of Horror
