Ok, so maybe this one doesn’t technically classify as a
horror film, but what isn’t horrific about a real-life case of someone taking
an axe to their parents? Lizzie Borden Took an Axe is a Lifetime
movie about the murders of Abby and Andrew Borden. Lizzie, played by Christina Ricci, was tried
and acquitted for both murders in 1892.
The movie centers on the days leading up to the murders and the trial
itself.
Though the movie wouldn’t win any awards, it has an
excellent cast (though the soundtrack is another story). Written by Stephen Kay and directed by Nick
Gomez, the movie co-stars Clea DuVall, Stephen McHattie, Billy Campbell and Gregg
Henry. Though it’s been well over a
hundred years since the crimes were committed, speculation still exists. The movie does so a great job at casting
doubt that Lizzie committed the crimes throughout the trial.
