For starters, going into this movie I didn’t hold high
expectations. I didn’t have any
expectations which is a good thing because even as far as cheese goes on the
B-movie scale, this one is on the bottom.
It’s not so much the bad acting, or rather under acting…it’s the
pacing. For a horror movie, even a bad
low budget one, there needs to be a little bit of a higher pace to set the
tension level high. Or medium. Or at least a fraction.
Boredom aside, it does make for decent really late night
television when you are exhausted and there is nothing else on. As for the plot, there is something to it and
deserves to be reworked and released (if it hasn’t already): A woman tormented
by ghostly apparitions and a professor of psychic phenomena investigate
other-worldly disturbances and unlock the secret of a malevolent force reaching
out for vengeance from beyond the grave.
Directed by Donald P. Borchers, Secret Screams stars Paul Le Mat as Professor Shaw and Renee
Soutendijk as Iris Norwood.
That concludes Day 28 for my 31 Days of Horror. Only three more days to go until Halloween!
