When Laine’s best friend Debbie dies tragically, she has a
hard time letting go. After finding an
old Ouija board in Debbie’s room at the funeral, Laine decides to recruit the
rest of her friends to perform a séance and say her final goodbyes. When they make contact, the connection isn’t
broken by merely saying goodbye and they soon find out that the spirit world is
not something to play with.
Ouija stars Olivia
Cooke as Laine Morris with Ana Coto as her sister Sarah. Daren Kagasoff, Bianca Santos, Douglas Smith,
and Shelley Hennig co-star in this movie directed by Stile White.
I will admit, the movie was better than I expected. Ghost stories are a bit dry at times and
difficult to build suspense without being cliché but this movie did well in
certain areas. A few of the plot twists
reminded me of Supernatural episodes
but I enjoyed them just the same. Having
played the game when I was a kid, it was nice to watch a movie that showed what
we hoped (and also feared) would happen.
Overall a win. It’s
still playing in select theaters so go watch it when you can! Otherwise, don’t miss it when it hits DVD.
