Movie Review! Christmas Icetastrophe

If you have been following my blog long enough, you should already know that I have a soft spot in my heart for watching campy movies.  One such genre that is chock-full of camp is the disaster movie.  Certainly, there are films within this genre that are Oscar worthy but, let's face it, the rest are just pure fun.

If you have seen enough disaster movies, then you know the formula: good man is introduced, as is the epitome of the bad man, small town setting (usually in some remote location), natural disaster ensues, children get lost, good man sets out to save the day (and children), bad man winds up seeing the light of goodness, scientist out in area on a whim to help the good man, desperate measures are taken, lots of people die, yet overall, the good man lives and saves the day.

With Christmas Icetastrophe, there is an additional nod to the favorite holiday classic, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.  Our main character names are Charlie Ratchett and his son Tim, and Ben Crooge with his daughter Marley.  The town suffers a devastating loss when a meter strikes Main Street and flash freezes pretty much everyone.  The survivors prepare to evacuate the town and soon discover the catastrophe is spreading.

Directed by Jonathan Winfrey, Christmas Icetastrophe stars Victor Webster,  Jennifer Spence, Ben Cotton, and Mike Dopud.
