Movie Review! Stonehearst Asylum

Loosely based on a short story by Edgar Allen Poe, Stonehearst Asylum is a recent happy find of mine.  Having been bogged down by a nasty sinus infection brought on by allergies, I seem to find myself confined to the couch for the majority of the day this past week and have been catching up on quite a few of my movies in my Netflix queue.  I was happy to stumble upon this one the other day.  If you haven't seen it yet, I do highly recommend it.

Stoneheart Asylum stars Jim Sturgess as Dr. Edward Newgate.  Having recently finished his medical training at Oxford, Newgate wishes to complete his internship at the Stonehearst Asylum.  When he first arrives just before Christmas, Newgate is surprised by Dr. Silas Lamb's unorthodox methods. Upon hearing Eliza Graves play on the piano dring his tour of the asylum, Newgate is at once enamored.  Mysteries abound the longer Newgate stays at the asylum and he uncovers the truth behind Silas Lamb.  But Newgate has his own secrets...

This is one of those movies that is just done so well it really doesn't need explanation or review.  With a star-studded cast consisting of Ben Kingsley, Michael Caine, David Thewlis, and Kate Beckinsale, you really can't go wrong.
