After watching two closer-to-drama-than-horror movies in a row, I delved into Netflix's classic Halloween favorites list and started this one...only to find out it is just as dry as your traditional drama. *sigh*
Ok, so I'm sure it wasn't all that bad but I was really looking forward to a suspenseful horror movie and this definitely didn't deliver. There were some perks to it so it wasn't a complete waste of time. :-)
Stephen McHattie stars as Grant Mazzy, a shock jock who gets a job in a small town in Ontario where his key responsibility is to report the school cancellations and weather. Not exactly exciting for someone who is used to stirring things up and causing controversy. But, sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for because this morning, the news is a bit more bizarre than the local missing cat.
The movie is primarily a monologue by McHattie as he broadcasts on the radio, and the saving grace is that he has an excellent voice to listen to. (If he were on the radio, I would listen just for that reason and I honestly wouldn't care what he was selling.) There is a bit of a mystery buried within but this is definitely a movie for word-smiths. Overall, I think my favorite part was the obituaries.
Forewarned is forearmed. This is not a terrible movie, just a slow one so be prepared prior to viewing.
