Movie Review! The Void

The Void
Shortly after delivering a patient to an understaffed hospital, a police officer experiences strange and violent occurrences seemingly linked to a group of mysterious hooded figures.

Fans of John Carpenter and H.P. Lovecraft will certainly enjoy this movie more than the average  viewer.  Though released in 2017, The Void has the feel of a 1980's horror film with old school creature effects combined with surrealistic, other-worldly images.  The plot, however, seems to have more of a void than the title implies.

The general theme is about loss and the depths that one will go to in order to be reunited with the dearly departed.  though many have cited references to The Thing and Assault on Precinct 13, my first and final thought while watching this was the similarity to Event Horizon. Love it or hate it, just don't over think it.  Simply enjoy the movie for the gore and the creature effects.
