31 Days of Horror! Wes Craven presents Don't Look Down

Well here it is...October 1st and I'm going to give it a go again. 31 days, 31 horror movies!

Today's pick is a movie that for one reason or another kept getting pushed back in my queue of what to watch. I rectified that mistake and finally pushed it to the top of the list.

After witnessing her sister fall from a cliff in a horrible accident, Carla develops acrophobia (a fear of heights). As she deals with the guilt of losing her sister and her newly developed fear, she joins a group of individuals with the same phobia in an extreme study that pushes their fear to the limit.  As the group begins to die one by one, Carla is also haunted by her sister's voice.

Originally intended to launch a series of horror movies, this made for TV movie fell flat when it was released in 1998 nixing the idea completely.  Watching it nearly 20 years later, I can see why it wasn't successful in hitting hard core horror fans.

Thrillers are a sub genre of horror, but with Wes Craven's name at the forefront, many fans were disappointed to discover the mystery instead.  Chock this one up to poor advertising and the ignorance of most in understanding a producer's role...

Written by Gregory Goodell and directed by Larry Shaw, Don't Look Down stars Megan Ward in the lead role and Billy Burke as her husband.

Overall, I rather enjoyed the movie and felt that it fell more along the lines of a Lifetime original. Though there were many predictable moments in the film, it was a solid mystery/thriller that will keep you watching just to see if you guessed the killer correctly.
