TV Series Review! Marvel's The Punisher

This is the first time reviewing a series but after watching this, I felt I may give it a go (especially considering the amount of binging I do on Netflix).

If you haven't watched any of the Marvel series on Netflix yet, you really need to start.  As in today.  You do not even need to have read a single comic in order to appreciate each series and enjoy the hours of viewing.  Each is unique and offers an amazing story line with even more amazing acting and action sequences.  They are powerful.  You need to get cracking.  Today.

Marvel's Daredevil season one is, was, and I thought always would be, my favorite out of all of the ones Netflix has to offer.  After finishing Marvel's Punisher, my brain is at war over which one I like best.  It has been awhile since I have watched Daredevil season one, so I feel another re-watch is in order to settle this inner debate.  That being said, I am still in awe over Jon Bernthal's performance.

I have always loved a good revenge story.  You can't get any better on that front than a man who takes out an entire cartel and anyone else that gets in his way after losing his family.  That origin story is buried within season two of Daredevil.  The current series picks up after.  So you wonder, what else is there to tell?  Oh, quite a bit more.

The first episode starts out with a bang, quite literally, as loose ends are tied up.  The Punisher is dead.  Time for retirement.  Sadly for Frank, this is not in the cards for him.  As the series progresses, we are introduced to a number of characters.  Some may be friend or foe.  All seem determined to interrupt Frank's time of grieving.

I won't divulge any spoilers because this is a series you need to just see for yourself.  Hopefully your friends and family didn't spoil anything for you already because that would just be unfair overall.  One of the strongest points of this series that I really appreciated, was the attention to the veterans.

Out of all the Netflix Marvel series, this one takes the prize for being the most violent and brutal overall and it is definitely not for the squeamish.  It is also one of the most depressing series because of the grief Frank shows in both his silence and his violence.

With Netflix producing one amazing series after another, it is no surprise that the other networks are beginning to fear this giant and start their own subscription services to compete.  Too little to late in this viewer's opinion.  Then again, competition only seems to make Netflix shows that much better so carry-on entertainment world.  Try to catch them...it's making better TV.
