31 Days of Horror! The Influence (La influencia)

Back in her childhood home to help her sister care for their comatose mother, Alicia must face a dark force from her past that now threatens her child.
I was feeling uninspired having had a long day at work and I really didn't feel like browsing through titles for something to watch.  This was a completely random choice, yet another one that was on my "you might like" list.  Others may complain about Netflix's algorithms, but for me they have always been pretty spot on.  This one is no exception.

Traditionally, I don't mind watching subtitled horror movies but when there is a dubbed version available, I'll give it a shot.  Netflix has been pretty good with their dubbing and I've yet to be disappointed.  I know there are those who hate subtitles and dubbing out there so keep in mind this is a foreign movie.

As soon as the credits rolled, I was creeped out.  Then again I do have a pretty good case of arachnophobia and the spiders definitely gave me the heebie jeebies.  As the movie started, it delved straight into the storyline.  It is a bit of a slow burn, but I was instantly reminded of the movie Burnt Offerings so I was already hooked by the overall mood of the movie.  There were some good twists in this but if you like your horror packed with action and gore, this one isn't for you.  It is definitely worth a watch and is one of the best I've seen this month for the countdown.
