31 Days of Horror! Series Review! Marianne

A famous horror writer who is lured back to her hometown discovers that the evil spirit who plagues her dreams is now wreaking havoc in the real world.
When Emma Larsimon pens her last book in her popular horror series, she truly believes one dark chapter (no pun intended) in her life is over.  When she is confronted by an old childhood friend at her final book signing, she soon realizes that though she may be done with her past, her past is not done with her.  After a tragedy occurs, she returns to her hometown and reawakens an old terror that has plagued her dreams and soon begins to haunt her waking hours.

When Marianne dropped in November, I was hooked after the first episode.  It is rare to find quality horror series and this is straight at the top of the list.  Each episode is beautifully filmed and has just the right combination of comedy and intense, down-right creepy scenes.  Each character adds their own element to this series weaving a believable supernatural element firmly planted in the real world.

If you haven't seen this yet, do not put it off any longer.  The original is in French but the dubbing is flawless enough to watch in English (for those that hate subtitles).  Though this season encapsulates and entire story and can stand alone, it does end on a note that makes me want to see another season.  Here's hoping the creators can make a second season as enjoyable as the first!
