Welcome to the start of my 31 Days of Horror countdown! Every day this October, I’ll be diving into a different film as we creep closer to Halloween. Whether it’s cult classics, hidden gems, or new releases, this month is all about celebrating the thrills, chills, and screams that make the season so much fun. And what better way to kick things off than with a sequel that managed to completely exceed my expectations—Smile 2.
Movie Description:
About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley begins to experience increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, she must face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.
My Review:
I’ll be honest—I didn’t rush to watch this one. The first Smile was fine but nothing groundbreaking, and I couldn’t imagine how a sequel could offer anything fresh given the nature of the story. To my surprise, Smile 2 not only improves on the original, it completely outshines it.
The shift in focus to Skye Riley’s world of fame and public scrutiny adds a unique layer of psychological horror, showing how the entity feeds off isolation and pressure in ways that feel both terrifying and grounded. The scares are sharper, the tension lingers longer, and the story digs deeper into the themes of trauma and performance than I expected.
By the time the credits rolled, I was fully convinced—this isn’t just another cash-grab sequel. Smile 2 earns its place in my 31 Days of Horror lineup and is a definite recommend for anyone looking for a chilling start to spooky season.
