Drop (2025)

Description: Violet, a widowed mother, heads to an upscale restaurant for a date with the charming and handsome Henry. But her night takes a terrifying turn when a hooded stranger begins sending messages threatening to kill her young son and sister—unless she murders Henry first.

What I Thought:
I went into Drop expecting a cheesy B-rated time-filler. The cover absolutely screams pulp, and I fully prepared myself for background noise-level entertainment. But—surprise!—this movie was actually really good.

Single-location films can be tricky. It’s far easier to build tension in an isolated cabin or a locked apartment. But creating that same sense of desperation and claustrophobic panic in a bustling restaurant, in public, in plain sight—during a date, no less—takes real finesse. And this movie nails it. The tension builds in all the right places, and the “everyone is a suspect” paranoia works beautifully.

Sure, it leans on some familiar tropes, but it’s entertaining enough to forgive those without hesitation. If you're looking for a tight, fast-paced thriller with a clever setup, I definitely recommend giving Drop a watch.
