31 Days of Horror: Day 13 — Ripper 2: Letter From Within

After enjoying Ripper: Letter From Hell, I was equal parts excited and leery about diving into its sequel. A follow-up I’d never heard much about usually isn’t a great sign… and in this case, I found out exactly why.

Movie Description:
Murders occur at a mental institution after a descendant (Erin Karpluk) of Jack the Ripper undergoes an experimental procedure.

My Review:
This movie was dreadful—and not in a good, creepy-horror way. Completely disjointed and lacking the moody slasher energy of the first film, Ripper 2: Letter From Within feels more like a confused experiment than a sequel. The story barely connects to the original in any meaningful way, and what could have been an intriguing psychological angle is handled clumsily at best.

Honestly, it almost felt insulting to the first movie. If you loved Ripper: Letter From Hell, do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Definitely a hard pass for me.
