31 Days of Horror: Day 17 — Brightburn

I went into this one intrigued by the premise—an alternate take on the “what if Superman was evil?” concept had so much potential. Unfortunately, what could have been a chilling and clever twist on the superhero mythos fell completely flat.

Movie Description:
After a difficult struggle with fertility, Tori Breyer’s dreams of motherhood come true with the arrival of a mysterious baby boy. As Brandon grows, a powerful darkness begins to manifest within him, putting everyone around him in danger.

My Review:
The setup is strong, but about halfway through, the story crumbles under its own weight. The pacing drags, the tension fizzles out, and the plot ends up feeling hollow rather than horrifying. It leans heavily on the “evil Superman” idea without offering any real depth or surprise.

A major letdown—and not the kind of horror disappointment you can just laugh off. Definitely a skip for me.
