Today’s pick takes us into small-town horror with 825 Forest Road, a film that leans heavily into atmosphere and mystery. It may not be the most fast-paced entry in this month’s lineup, but it still has its merits.
Movie Description:
Chuck Wilson hopes to start a new life after a family tragedy when he moves to the town of Ashland Falls with his wife Maria and little sister Elizabeth, but he quickly discovers that the town has a dark secret.
My Review:
To say this one is a slow burn would be an understatement. The story takes its time unraveling, which may test the patience of some viewers, and yes, a few of the twists feel a bit predictable. On top of that, the acting is uneven in places, which pulled me out of the moment here and there.
That said, I still found it worth the runtime. The film builds an eerie small-town atmosphere that lingers, and even with its flaws, the central mystery kept me curious enough to see how it would all play out. 825 Forest Road may not hit the high notes of the genre, but if you don’t mind a slower, moodier watch, it’s worth checking out.
