Anyone who loves horror should absolutely love John Carpenter. Not only for his movies but also for his music. And in my opinion, were it not for the stellar soundtrack, the movie would be sub-par.
Prince of Darkness is one of those films that you either love at first sight, or you're just plain confused and need a minute to digest it. I've always thought if any movie of his should be remade, it would be this one. It definitely needs a longer running time to dive further into the mythos. There is so much going on and it only gets better with multiple viewings so that you can pick up the many threads. I've been a fan from the first viewing and revisit this every couple years. Very happy to see it again this round.
