Dramas aren’t usually the first movies I click on, but I do get around to them eventually. Six Triple Eight sat in my queue for far too long—and I’m glad I finally watched it. This Netflix drama tells the incredible true story of the 855 women who joined the war effort during World War II to tackle a massive, three-year backlog of mail. Facing discrimination, harsh working conditions, and the pressure of war all around them, these women sorted over seventeen million pieces of mail ahead of schedule, proving their resilience and changing history.
What struck me most about Six Triple Eight is how much heart it carries. It’s not just a story about mail—it’s a story about perseverance, dignity, and the quiet ways people can reshape the world. The cast brings these women’s experiences to life with respect and power, and the film highlights a part of history that too often gets overlooked.
If you haven’t seen it yet, definitely bump it up your list. It’s not only a well-made drama, but an important reminder of the sacrifices and strength that came from every corner during the war. For me, it now sits alongside Tuskegee Airmen as a must-watch piece of history everyone should know.
