It wouldn’t be spooky season without at least one Scream movie making an appearance. The franchise has become a horror staple, and like many fans, I’ve got too much time invested in the story (and its ever-growing list of Ghostfaces) to skip a new installment.
Movie Description:
Four survivors of the Ghostface murders leave Woodsboro behind for a fresh
start in New York City. However, they soon find themselves in a fight for their
lives when a new killer embarks on a bloody rampage.
My Review:
At this point, it’s practically a given that I’ll watch any new Scream
entry—especially when familiar faces from the original cast return.
Unfortunately, much like several of the sequels before it, Scream VI
falls flat.
While I appreciated the nods to previous Ghostfaces and the
attempt to weave legacy and modernity together, the movie lacks the tension and
suspense that defined the early films. The scares feel formulaic, and the
big-city setting doesn’t add as much fresh energy as I’d hoped.
It’s not unwatchable—just uninspired. For diehard fans, it’s
another notch in the Scream belt, but for anyone looking for genuine
chills, this one’s more of a polite nod than a scream.
