When five friends accidentally cause a deadly car accident, they make a pact to keep it a secret. A year later, their past comes back with a vengeance as a mysterious killer begins stalking them—forcing them to seek help from two survivors of the infamous 1997 Southport massacre.
I really wish Hollywood would stop trying to reboot or stretch every successful horror franchise from the past. It’s clear this one wanted to replicate what Halloween and Scream managed to pull off, but unfortunately, I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) feels more like How To Kill A Franchise.
While there are a few moments that earn a laugh (intentional or not), the movie teeters into horror-comedy territory more than anything. And without spoiling too much—though let’s be honest, spoilers might actually help here—the movie should have ended when Ray pulled the trigger on the boat. It would have saved the movie. But it didn't end there. Nor did it end in the bar. Or at the picnic table. It had to keep going with an ultimate ending that dangles a possible second movie.
Please no. For the love of the original film, just stop.
This movie is proof that sometimes it’s better to leave the past buried.
